(I’m talking pre-affair Anna.)
They’re both the belles of the ball…so who would be THE belle of the ball??

Other questions to contemplate: Who Would Win In a Dance-Off: Mark Watney or Willy Wonka? and Who Would Win In a Fight: Gandalf or Sherlock Holmes?
I just feel like Anna KNEW what she wanted from the get go. And that she’s crafty enough to get it.

Fair point. There’s something very purposeful about what she does!

Anna. More oomph.

Anna Karenina would so win. Daisy’s too damaged.

Hmmm, but is Daisy better at hiding her damage than Anna? Although since this is pre-affair Anna I think you might be right!

Good point! Haha, I love that we’re debating this. XD

This was a tough choice! I went with Daisy. The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books. Plus, I think she has the drama and looks that would put her in the running for prom queen.

True! I feel like Anna has more of a sophisticated/serious look to her. So for prom queen, Daisy might come across better. (And I love The Great Gatsby!!!)

I am voting for Anna. She is so classy. The gorgeous dresses are her second skin. I am sure that the society was criticizing her so harshly because they were all jealous of her beauty and style before the affair took place and were determined to hurt her.

Great points! I know every time the book would describe what she was wearing and the way she carried herself she sounded almost regal.

I think Anna and Daisy are completely different persons. Anna goes after what she wants while Daisy is rather shy and lets Tome decide what to do. I am not sure who would win. 😉

Very true. Although Anna does end up clinging to Vronsky after a while, too…I really don’t know who would win, either!

Anna But difficult to imagine pre affair Anna without being influenced by post affair Anna. Imagine her going to the prom with Vronsky.

Ohhh that would be a sight to see. That’s a good point, too! There’s so much that happens throughout both books that colors how we think about the characters. I’m not sure Anna OR Daisy would be in great shape to be prom queen towards the end of both books.

I think Daisy would win. Daisy would probably care about winning, and therefore put effort into it (courting votes, etc), while I can’t see Anna caring about being prom queen. Anna doesn’t need to be prom queen to prove anything and she knows it.

Hmm, very true. Daisy would definitely put effort into it, though I feel like she would try to make it look effortless.

While it seems votes are going predominately toward Anna I have to lean towards Daisy. But that’s mostly because I can’t even imagine Anna in a high school setting, while I think Daisy would actually thrive in the safely monitored social environment.

Ooh, great point! I can definitely see that. By comparison, Anna seems to thrive in the more risky, self-monitored rules of house parties.

Oh for sure, for sure! She would be the queen of house parties!

I’m going with Daisy. Not just because she’s from my favorite book, but I think she is a people pleaser ultimately, and would use that to her advantage. But I can see the argument for Anna.

You’re not the only one! I hadn’t even thought about Daisy as a people pleaser before, but it’s such a great point! 🙂

Anna, definitely. Although Daisy wants to meet those expectations people have of her, Anna isn’t afraid to take risks. Well, up to a certain point.

True! Anna does strike me as more of a risk-taker than Daisy. I think she lives on the edge more!

Definitely. Daisy is probably pretty popular, but people always like to go for the rebellious.
