Your Next Creative Hobby: The Make-Your-Own Lego Movie Books

The day I stumbled upon these books was a good, good day.

I always love looking at Klutz books when I go to a craft or toy store, even though I’m technically an adult now. The childhood memories are fun by themselves, and honestly some of the books still look pretty cool! Case in point? This Lego make-your-own-movie book.

There are more pieces included in the book, but I’ve been using them!

At first I thought there would be no way I’d have the patience to do something like this. Move teeny-tiny Lego arms millimeter by millimeter just for 5 seconds of video? NOPE. But the more I looked at this book the more I felt like it was worth the risk of buying it. And I’m so glad I did.

Honestly, if you’re like me and are worried about the time commitment I can offer some encouragement, because even a 3 minute (or 30 second!) video can tell an entertaining story and be satisfying to create.

About the Lego Make Your Own Movie book: Overall, this is a really, really great introduction on how to make Lego movies. The book includes backdrops for your movies (like a cityscape, the arctic, and outer space) and walks you through clear, step-by-step instructions on things like how to make your Lego people walk (I know, there are so many puns in that sentence). The minifigures and other items that come with the book are really unique and fun, too! I’ve never seen any other set selling a Lego pizza. And it’s amazing.

But if you want to take your Lego movie-making to the next level, I would also suggest investing in The Lego Animation Book, which is what I ended up doing. It’s jam-packed with all kinds of detailed information about lighting, how to make your characters look like they’re flying, how each individual part of the minifigures can be moved, etc.IMG_1922.jpg

PLUS THERE’S THIS SHARK GUY.

It was worth the cost of the book just to see this picture. And the caption is pure gold.

SHARK HEAD.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a new hobby, look no further! When you need to beat the monotony of work or school, this is a great way to go.
