Top 5 Literary Mash-Ups That Totally Need to Happen

Alice 1984

Classic literature is great.  But have you ever wondered what would happen if two of history’s greatest stories were combined into one like some incredible atomic fusion?

Well, I have! Here are some of the ones I’m dying to read:

Alice’s Adventures in 1984 (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland + 1984)

To Kill a Frankenstein (To Kill a Mockingbird + Frankenstein)

The Great Jane (The Great Gatsby + Jane Eyre)

The Secret Women (The Secret Garden + Little Women)

Sense and a Mockingbird (Sense and Sensibility + To Kill a Mockingbird)

What book mash-ups would you read?

  2. Maybe Dangerous Karenina ? (Dangerous Liaisons + Anna Karenina)? The love affairs, the guilt in one, the absolute lust in the other, something interesting could happen, don’t you think?
Yours are fantastic too! I still haven’t read 1984. What did you think of it?

    1. I actually haven’t read Dangerous Liaisons, but it does sound like an interesting mash-up! 1984 is one of my favorite classics! It made my brain hurt and question everything by the time I finished, but in a good way haha. I would highly recommend it!

      1. Great! It’s going on my ever growing reading list.
Dangerous Liaisons was a fantastic read too. I read it in school for a literature assignment and despite being young, I remember absolutely loving it. I can imagine I would appreciate it even more so now I’m a little older and more mature.

  3. Ivanhoe and Thumbelina – this one was proposed during by an online random generator of plot mashups I found and I’ve been trying to work out how to do it for years. The two stories have the same character arcs and archetypes and I think it’s doable. I just can’t work out exactly how.
